Every dusk, an unmarked parcel reaches the last house on Lantern Lane. Darry leaves it by the green door, waits for no signature, and takes the long road home. The baker calls him a courier. The watch calls him a visitor. Darry has corrected neither of them.
At the crossroads, even the signposts lose track. Darry keeps walking as if direction were someone else's concern.
